About HEY

HEY is an opinionated email service from 37signals, the makers of Basecamp. It rethinks how the inbox works rather than wrapping a new client around IMAP. New senders go through The Screener, where you decide once whether they can ever email you. Approved mail is split between the Imbox (important), The Feed (newsletters), and Paper Trail (receipts), each with a presentation tailored to that kind of message.

Features like Reply Later, Set Aside, and Bubble Up replace the traditional inbox-zero workflow with explicit shelves for unfinished messages. HEY automatically blocks spy pixels and tracking, and it offers per-sender reply rules and Clips for searchable highlights.

HEY is paid (a flat annual fee per address, plus a HEY for Work tier for custom domains and teams), with no free plan. It is best suited to people frustrated by Gmail-style inboxes who want a more curated, less reactive way of processing email.

Key features
